The SHAPE Creative Writing Group
On Tuesday 11 December 2007 the SHAPE Creative Writing Group, run by Katherine Parris, held their Christmas ‘do’ at the Chateau Masnuy St Jean. During the evening, the winner of the Creative Writing Competition was announced. Throughout the 12-week course, held at the UKSU on SHAPE, writers had been experimenting with different styles, genres and ways of writing with the goal of a competition at the end of the course.
Mrs Kate Garvey won with her humorous piece entitled "The Train Now Leaving". Katherine Parris said "the standard of writing was very high, and it was very difficult to choose a winner from all the entrants. It was a great pleasure to read all the stories"
Following the success of the first Creative Writing Course, there will be another chance to learn how to write a children's story, short fiction, and an autobiography We will also present writing workshops, poetry, and suggestions on how to get published. The next class starts on Tuesday 15 January from 1930 to 2130 hours and runs weekly. For the more experienced writer there is a weekly writer's workshop which will begin on Wednesday 17 January from 1900 to 2100 hours.
